Abingdon Episcopal Church Youth Mission to the Roanoke Valley

Roanoke Mission --  July 14-20, 2018

The Abingdon Mission Team Members

Abingdon Youth, young people in middle school and high school will return to REACH in Roanoke this summer. Last year, six of Abingdon's youth, aged 14-18, and three adult chaperones traveled to the Roanoke Valley of Virginia  this summer.

The Mission Team's Work

The team is busy making plans to serve to those in need in Roanoke. We will partner again with REACH to address areas of concerns such as:

  • substandard housing (home repair & renovation),
  • homelessness (all facets),
  • hunger (distribution and collection),
  • environmental impact (parks, rivers, neighborhoods, community gardens…),
  • animal care (SPCA & Zoo) ,
  • at risk youth and children (camps, games, recreation, tutoring, cooking classes, vbs…),
  • older adult care (music, ice cream socials, cell phones…),
  • and assimilation of immigrants into the Roanoke community.

With help from you our mission will be a success!

We are now planning fundraisers to pay for our travel, room, board, and work supplies.

If you would like to donate to our mission trip fund, please contact the church office by email or phone (804-693-3035).
