Feed the Hungry

Abingdon School Partnership

1) Through our Panther Pack Program we provide supplemental food on the weekend for a number of students who receive subsidized lunches at Abingdon Elementary School during the week.

2) We provide Teacher Appreciation events at the beginning and end of the school year.

3) Individual members of the church are involved in the Lunch Buddies and Reading Buddies programs.

 Meals-on-Wheels Support

Members of our parish actively support the Meals-on-Wheels Program for Gloucester County in the roles of coordinators, meal preparers, and delivery drivers.  This ministry provides support during the holidays of Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, and Thanksgiving Day.  As part of this holiday ministry, we also provide food to the residents of the Laurel Shelter.

 Summer Servings Food Program

This provide supplemental food to needy kids when school is out for the summer.

 Thanksgiving Dinner

Each Thanksgiving, Abingdon Episcopal Church opens its doors to everyone in the community for a delicious and completely free Thanksgiving Day dinner.  Members of our congregation donate turkeys, hams, and large amounts of side dishes and desserts. We set the tables with table cloths, flowers & candles, dishes and silverwear just as we would in our homes.  In 2014 we served 250 people in our parish hall and delivered 75 meals to the homes of area residents.  In addition, we provide a Thanksgiving meal to the residents of the Laurel Shelter.
